Seminars and Conferences

We are a firm of tax consultants providing advice and support to accountants in general practice.

Training activities

Whilst BNB Tax Consultants is not a training organisation, it is accredited by the Law Society and the Institute of Legal Executives to provide external CPD sessions for its members.  Our sessions are led by the consultants who do the work.

We deliver seminars and conferences at our own events, for and with other firms of professional advisers, within district society meetings of professional bodies and at conferences organised by third parties.

Fees and costs

We make no charge when delivering seminars to district societies, based on a normal 1 to 1.5 hour CPD session.

We do make a charge for our own CPD seminars and conferences (mainly to cover the cost of the events) and also seek a fee when working with commercially organised events.

As a general rule, course material consists of copies of the relevant slides (we can provide samples) and an additional reading list (sources of information).  It is not our normal practice to produce and provide full narrative notes.

Sessions led

Existing seminars and conferences (timed at between one hour and one and a half hours, except where otherwise stated):

  • Amnesty, what amnesty?

  • Managing amnesty disclosures

  • Amnesty related tax investigations

  • Why charities pay too much VAT

  • Should charities get involved in tax avoidance?

  • VAT and Property Part I - Commercial and industrial property

  • VAT and Property Part II - Residential and charitable property (can be run together with V&P Part I, but will last over two hours)

  • R&D Tax Credits (Basics to which a session can be added on R&D related capital allowance planning)

  • Planning Gain Supplement - Does it free up planning or is it just a tax?

  • Tax Prosecutions Defence (includes MTIC, prosecutions defence (things to look for), and Tax avoidance - planning to be prosecuted?)

  • Tax Investigations - The drive against tax fraud, managing the new interventions and what lies ahead

  • Money Laundering in Taxation Matters - from the perspective of the tax practitioner

  • VAT - Credit Notes and Bad Debt Relief (sounds incredibly dull, is incredibly dull, but is also important and a much misunderstood part of VAT legislation)

  • Capital Taxes and the Home

  • Managing tax Investigations

  • VAT Update

  • Tax Update

  • Property acquisition, standard tax enquiries - what do they mean and what should you look out for?

  • VAT - Import and acquisitions, Exports and Supplies – Basics
